MÉDUSE
Born in 1946 as "La Saraizienne," Méduse's iconic sandal was born out of necessity: with leather scarce after the war, plastic stepped in, injection moulded from a single block into the spiked sole and braided straps still recognisable today. The sandal found its moment in the 1960s alongside the miniskirt and bikini, then was revived in the 2000s by the Humeau family as the Sun, still made in Western France five generations on.
Made in France also means made responsibly: production stays close to its market to limit its footprint, and all Méduse products use phthalate free, 100% recyclable plastics, tested to strict European standards as a founding member of the INNOSHOE® charter. The brand keeps sourcing greener where it can too, this year introducing hemp, already used by sister brand Plasticana, into the Sun itself.
