PLASTICANA

Founded in 1998 by André Ravachol, Plasticana patented a way to work hemp fibre into plastic, cutting petroleum dependency at the material level. What started as garden footwear, most notably the Gardana clog launched in 2009, has grown into a small family of clogs, mules, boots, and booties, all made from the same plastic and hemp blend.

The hemp fibres do double duty: caramelising during moulding to give each pair its natural colouring, without synthetic dyes. Shoes are manufactured in France with Humeau Beaupréau, who also run an end of life return program so the material can be recycled rather than thrown away.
